Education and Career History

I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Maryland and entered the financial services field with Prudential in September of 1993. In 2000, I became an independent advisor and later founded Wealth Management Partners, LLC with Joyce Cool in 2005. I have successfully completed several designation programs, including CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM(CFP®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), and Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL®). My specialties include comprehensive personal financial planning, investment management strategies, retirement planning, and estate planning.

Why Am I a Financial Planner?

My interest in finance began when I was young, as my family did not have much growing up. Money became a subject of both fascination and fear. A high school Social Studies class about the stock markets intrigued me, and the economics courses in college further stoked my interest.

When I began my career, I realized how poorly trained most advisors are and how the primary focus of so many “advisors” was their own personal gain. Solving the problem or helping the client reach their goals was less important. The more I saw, the more I realized the importance of expertise and treating people right.

I knew that with the right partner who had the same ethical and continuing education commitments, we could stand out from the crowd by simply treating people like they were brought up to do and providing them with good, honest advice.

Life Outside of Work

I grew up in Sparrows Point, MD, located in Baltimore County. I put myself through college working in the GAF shingle factory and the old GM Broening Highway plant in Baltimore. I currently reside near Allen’s Fresh in Charles County with my wife, Linda, and our springer spaniel, Abby. My wife is a federal IT contractor who enjoys painting and gardening in her free time, while I enjoy spending time in nature walking, kayaking, and taking pictures of the wildlife in the area. Abby, our dog, enjoys eating, chasing squirrels, going for walks and most of all … eating! 😀 🍴
